Proverb 31:13
“She seeks wool and flax, and works
with willing hands.”
Willing hands……just what does
this little phrase mean?
Believe it or not, for one reason or another
a lot of women are not willing to work even at home.
I for one am not advocating the only place
a woman should be is in the home; there are a lot of women that God has made a way for them to carry out other duties besides
homemaker, but…..I have never known an incident where the husband, children, or household were forsaken for another
position in life; not in the case of Christian women.
Regardless where this women works, she works
~ with willing hands.
It’s not the place, it’s the
willingness and the resolution, her inclination toward doing a high-quality job no matter where she is.
Today not many women make clothes for the
family, but - some do. This deed that is illustrated here has no virtue on it’s own, it is the willing hands that hold
the virtue.
My husband and I have been house hunting
on the internet. Many of these houses have lots of pictures taken of the inside of the house/home. There is a vast difference
between a house and a home. A house is a dwelling place that is fit to live in….but a home is a house that is made lovingly
suitable to live in. One could tell that someone in the house made plans to decorate and add personal touches to the house
that made it absolutely attractive and appealing to family and friends. The colors on the wall, the design of the furniture
and the way it was arranged, the window dressings, and bedroom quilts and pillows, the bathroom tidiness and color schemes,
the kitchen and dining rooms that were decorated with care. Yes, one could “feel” the love that exuded from the
careful planning it took to make the house - a home.
Oh that more women would take seriously
the position of homemaker for their rewards are great both now and in eternity.
