Proverbs 31:15
Proverbs 31:15 ‘She rises while it is yet night and provides food
for her household and tasks for her maidens.”
The very thought of getting up while it is still dark outside is foreign
to most women now adays especially if it involves preparing breakfast for her husband and children before they leave for the
day. This is not saying some do don’t this…but very few. Mostly it’s getting up at an early hour to ‘go’
to work themselves, letting the others in the household ‘fend’ for themselves.
How did it get this way in our society? Lots of reasons of course, but
I know women that go to work that really shouldn’t, why? The money they make doesn’t really make that big a difference…
the gas, clothes, day-care, and lunch expenses - therefore, instead of helping - it is a hindrance.
The woman portrayed in Proverbs 31 is not up before dawn because she ‘has
to’~ no, she is up because that is her…nature. Her love for her household, even the maidens that help her……is
the motivation for her rising up with anticipation to face the day; a well-thought-out challenge, rather than a duty to be
fulfilled.
In order to prepare food for her household she has planned well in advance
the food of which she would use to prepare a nitrous meal. As a result, she has considered her menu in advance - with whatever
her budget may afford and taken every preparation for the days a head. This shows love again, and a self-sacrificing on her
part. She saw this as an obligation having committed herself to being a wife and mother. Rather than run out the door to make
a name for herself, she has made it her aim to be the best that she could be at the job she has facing her at hand.
Preparing food for her household….is it only tangible food one can
prepare for their loved ones or could it be the spiritual food for thought to enlighten their minds and hearts before husband
and children leave their dwelling to face another day in this world? Could it be she gave them a scripture verse to mediate
on or a promise for herself so that she could be the strength that gave the household it’s stability and peace? Regardless
of the food…it takes preparation more than a mere ‘pass-at-it’….
Today a woman’s place in the home has been dishonored among the ignorant
and of late those in the church have taken up the baton and ran far away with it.
Many are the husbands and children that rise up and call their wives and
mothers blessed, for when she shows her love by being a Proverbs 31 woman…it is a natural praise from their hearts to
hers.
