Proverbs 31:16 “She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit
of her hands she plants a vineyard.”
Real estate ….no matter what era one lives in buying real estate
takes some deep consideration. Location is a prime concern for the buyer and in this case the fertileness of the soil. This
woman is no frivolous lady, she has common sense, and inspects this land for sale with careful scrutiny thus, she is not one
for ‘impulse’ buying. How many today are under the curse of impetuous purchasing of things they do not need to
run their household and consequently plunge their husbands and family into debt that is insurmountable?
This lady portrayed in proverbs 31 is not irresponsible in anyway; how
we can read character by the way one treats money. Thoughtful spending for future good of the family is commendable in any
society in any age.
She not only buys this field, but is willing to plant the vineyard herself…lovingly
placing the seed that will break forth with a harvest in due time. Oh how many should take this example. No impulsive buying,
no spending large amounts of money on self, but thinking of the yield of fruit for the benefit of the whole family.
Should we not be aware of selfish desires when it comes to spending money
or planning for the future? What is a wife and mother’s function in the family unit but to be the heart of the family;
someone everyone looks to and as she looks to God He will provide the strength, dignity, and common sense to carry out the
immense task of being a proverbs lady.
