PART TWO "THE CHURCH AND BABYLON"
(Isaiah 57)
Matthew 7:6
"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls
to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces."
Whenever my family and I pray for one another, we reach over and touch
the person we are praying for during the entirety of the prayer. I, personally, would feel that something was amiss if I were
to pray for my one of my children or my wife, being within reach, and not make the effort of putting my hand on them while
praying for them.
Since we have small children and they are not adapt at sitting still for
any period of time, often times it is necessary that I touch the person closest to the little one and that one place their
hands on the mobile child while they are within their reach. Usually, we end up with a chain with me touching the one closest
to me, that one touching the one closest to them, and the other touching the little one being prayed for…while they
remain reachable.
Well, last night as we were praying, our little toddler went around the
room, placed her hand on each of us one at a time, bowed her head, and said, “Amen,” before moving on to the next.
I cannot tell you what a joy that was for me when she did this. Some may question if she even understood what she was doing,
but this is the same little one who, on a walk around the neighborhood a few days before, kept stopping, looking up to the
sky, and saying, “Jesus.” Let me tell you, she is way too young for anyone to have explained anything about Jesus
ascending into heaven or coming in the clouds. As a matter of fact, she doesn’t even know what “clouds”
are yet.
The initial hostility towards a Christian in Babylon willing to speak the
truth will come from the leadership of the church. I suppose that this is partly due to the fact that most Christians have
dealings with a given church initially. Though it is logical that this would be the case, as the end draws nearer this hostility
will become more and more aggressive due to the fact that the spirit that is in the churches across the nation will not let
its prize go so easily.
As the Christian begins to branch out and away from the hostilities faced
from those that feel as though they are rich and lacking nothing and turn his attention to those not apart of this group,
he will then face hostility from the world as well. Now, the hostility from within world, depending upon the rulers of the
air, will come in different forms. In Babylon this hostility, on a personal level, is less “in your face,” and
more “behind your back,” usually. From within the church the expression is one of full-on arrogant sarcasm.
As an example of this, a month or so ago, I was attempting to communicate
with the leadership of a particular church to encourage them to reach out to the Lord. Well, I attempted this a few years
back as well and things did not turn out so well but I thought that I would try again in that one of these is a relative of
mine.
As it happens, this relative of mine has back problems and it has always
been my contention that the Word of God is true and right and since nothing medically could be done (in Babylon the doctor
is always the first answer), if the leadership of the church is of God then they should place hands on him and pray and he
would get better. Now, that’s not something I made up; that’s in the Word of God.
During the course of trying to reach out to these people, it so happened
that I was having back pain as well in the same area that this relative of mine has pain. Well, this whole time I was praying
about it, but it wasn’t getting any better. At the same time, since I had mentioned the fact that the elders of the
church (of which he is one) should be able to pray to God on his behalf the last time I tried to reach out to them and received
a great deal of anger in return, it was my intention not to mention it again this time.
Well, as it happened the last time, I was ceremonially dismissed by these
folks as one that should not be bothered with, and to settle the matter once and for all my relative decided that a confrontation
was a good way to handle the situation. Since the time was right, and although my back was in pain as well, I asked him about
his back again. He said that nothing had changed and then added arrogantly, “What are you going to do? Come over here
and heal me?” I told him that I’ll leave that to the elders there.
A few weeks after this, I was at work and I happened to come across a man
that I have worked with for several years and knows full well that I am a Christian. He was bent over and obviously in a great
deal of pain. When I asked him what the matter was, he told me about the horrible pain he was experiencing so I stood there,
and without him knowing, prayed for him. Right when I said, “Amen,” the man looked up with a great deal of surprise
and I knew that the Lord had healed him.
Just then, I went over to him and asked if he felt better yet. He responded
that he did and I said, “I just prayed for you.” He answered back, “I was just thinking that! I was thinking,
‘I know KC just prayed for me!” He then began to thank me, but I turned his attention to the Lord and he then
began to praise God in Jesus Name. Now, this man does not go to church but I know that he has faith because we have discussed
this from time to time throughout the years.
A few days after this, I was walking down the hall and I happened to see
this man again. When he saw me he said, “Are you still praying for me? I haven’t felt this good for a long time!
I feel great!” I didn’t answer him, all I said was, and “That’s wonderful!”
Very few in the church in Babylon seem to have any faith, and even fewer
have any power. The fact of the matter is, they do not really care anyway because there is always the doctor, or the psychologist,
or the chiropractor, or the bank, or “fill in the blank“. In Babylon, all that can be afforded man to make his
life as comfortable and pleasant here on this earth as possible without God is available; however, one of these days things
are going to change drastically and, according to the Word of God, without warning. If faith is not sought now, if power is
not sought now, if God Himself is not sought now, the church as we know it will have only what they have now when they desperately
and absolutely need so much more: nothing.
The fact of the matter is, miracles alone are not going to save a man’s
soul. At the same time, however, the One Who performs miracles does, and only He Alone can. If there is no power in the church,
if there is no faith in the church, this is only because the god in the church is not the Almighty God: the Alpha and the
Omega, the Beginning and End.
It is the opinion of the writer of this that God is going to move mightily
through His Spirit in Babylon before all that is coming is realized. Though most in leadership of the church in our present
day are obstinate, have no room for the truth and, due to finances, are happy to see the sheep fed scraps from week to week,
eventually they too will want to join in; as will those that only listen to those that tell them what they want to hear. However,
when the sacred things are kept sacred, and the pearls are withheld from the trough, the spirit of this world, that which
refuses to relinquish its prize, will attack and leave the sincere all alone and held up to ridicule. The end will then come.
In my family we have seen many miracles. In faith, we place our hands on
one another as we pray for each other and we believe God will grant our request spoken on the other’s behalf or do much
better. This faith has been passed to each and every child, even the tiny little one. Though this is true, it is not, nor
has it ever been only the miracles that we cherish. No, it is important to my wife and me for our children; so that even the
smallest of these, even the one that does not seem to be old enough to possibly understand, keep their gaze heavenward, calling
upon Jesus, their Lord and Savior, in eager anticipation until they see Him finally coming in the clouds.
This must be the heart’s cry from each and every Christian in this
nation and in this world. It must be the burning desire of leadership, of parents, and all Christians everywhere. If the church
in Babylon, those pious leaders and careless followers, do not acquire faith, and if these do not seek the power of the Holy
Spirit, it will be bad enough for them but it will be complete and utter disaster for their children and for all those that
come after them.
By the way, I don’t know when, but it occurred to me that my
back stopped hurting some time ago. “Thank you, Lord Jesus! Thank you for the faith of my family!”
Isaiah 57:13
“When you cry out for help, let your collection
of idols save you! The wind will carry all of them off, a mere breath will blow them away. But the man who makes me his refuge
will inherit the land and possess my holy mountain."
